To look at them, you would never know why this species was named the ivory-billed woodpecker. One mounted specimen in a museum case at LSU has had its bill painted with pearly white nail polish to make it more closely resemble a live ivory-bill, but it just looks weird.

Hmm…very interesting teaser clip. I love the “it just makes it look weird”, made me laugh as I was getting ready this morning…Is this a non-fiction I assume?
Yes, it is non-fiction. The ivory-billed woodpecker is a bird thought to be extinct by many, but sporadic sightings have given hope that it still exists.

Interesting teaser. I’ve never heard of the ivory-billed woodpecker, but the fact that it’s thought to be extinct could have something to do with that!
